Potato fritters

  • 2 large potatoes, peeled and grated
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • Vegetable oil for frying
