GRANDMA’S HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE PIE

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 4 egg yolks, lightly beaten
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 (9-inch) pie crust, baked and cooled

Preparation:

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
  2. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth.
  3. Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until mixture thickens and boils.
  4. Reduce heat to low and cook, whisking constantly, for 2 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and whisk in egg yolks, butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
