Chocolate rolls

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

For the glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. Add the warm milk, warm water, melted butter, and egg to the bowl and stir until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, cinnamon, and salt until well mixed.
  7. Roll out the dough into a rectangle shape on a floured surface.
  8. Spread the chocolate filling over the dough, leaving a 1/2 inch border around the edges.
  9. Roll the dough tightly into a log and pinch the seams to seal.
  10. Cut the log into 12 even slices.
  11. Place the slices in a greased baking dish and let them rise for 10-15 minutes.
  12. Bake the chocolate rolls for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  13. In a small mixing bowl, combine the powdered sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, and milk until a smooth glaze forms.
  14. Drizzle the glaze over the warm chocolate rolls before serving.
