Korean-style cream cheese garlic bread

Korean-style cream cheese garlic bread is a popular street food in Korea known for its deliciously cheesy, garlicky, and indulgent flavors. Here’s a recipe to make it at home:

Ingredients:

For the bread:

  • 4 large bread rolls or baguettes
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

For the garlic butter sauce:

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • Pinch of salt

For the cream cheese filling:

  • 8 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

For the topping:

  • 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional)

Preparation:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the bread rolls or baguettes into cross-hatch patterns, making sure not to slice all the way through. Set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, cream cheese, minced garlic, chopped parsley (if using), and a pinch of salt. Mix until well combined.
  4. Spread the garlic butter mixture generously inside each slice of bread, making sure to get into the cross-hatch cuts.
  5. In a small saucepan, melt the butter for the garlic butter sauce over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for a minute until fragrant. Stir in the honey and a pinch of salt, and cook for another minute. Remove from heat.
  6. In another bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
  7. Stuff each slice of bread with the cream cheese filling, spreading it generously.
  8. Drizzle the garlic butter sauce over the top of each bread roll, making sure to coat them well.
  9. Sprinkle a mixture of shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top of each bread roll.
  10. Place the prepared bread rolls on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the bread is golden brown.
  11. Remove from the oven and let the bread rolls cool slightly. Sprinkle with fresh parsley (if desired) before serving.
