Hoagie

A hoagie, also known as a sub or a hero, is a type of sandwich that typically consists of a long roll or baguette filled with various deli meats, cheeses, and toppings. Here’s a recipe to make a classic hoagie sandwich:

Ingredients:

  • Hoagie rolls or baguettes
  • Deli meats (such as ham, turkey, roast beef, or salami)
  • Sliced cheese (such as provolone, Swiss, or cheddar)
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Onion slices
  • Pickles (optional)
  • Mayonnaise
  • Mustard
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Preparation:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) if you prefer a warm hoagie.
  2. Slice the hoagie rolls or baguettes lengthwise, leaving one side connected.
  3. If desired, lightly toast the rolls in the oven for a few minutes.
  4. Spread a layer of mayonnaise on the inside of the rolls.
  5. Layer the deli meats and cheese on one side of the rolls.
  6. Add lettuce leaves, tomato slices, onion slices, and pickles (if using) on top of the meat and cheese.
  7. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
  8. Drizzle some mustard on top of the vegetables.
  9. Close the hoagie rolls and press them lightly to hold everything together.
  10. Slice the hoagies in half if desired and serve immediately.
